We are now seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Worker/Cover Supervisor to provide essential support.

About the Role:

As a Youth Worker/Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in both pastoral care and classroom management. You will help support the emotional and social well-being of students while covering lessons in the absence of the regular teacher. This dual role is perfect for someone passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives while gaining hands-on experience in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Youth Worker Responsibilities:
    • Provide pastoral support and mentoring to students, promoting their personal and emotional well-being.
    • Develop strong relationships with students, helping them overcome challenges in school and their personal lives.
    • Work alongside the school’s pastoral team to deliver targeted interventions for students at risk of disengagement.
    • Support the development of extracurricular activities, including clubs, workshops, and after-school programs.
    • Act as a positive role model for students, promoting positive behaviour, attendance, and engagement in school life.
  • Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
    • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of the class teacher, following pre-set lesson plans.
    • Ensure students remain on task and manage classroom behaviour according to school policies.
    • Provide assistance to students as needed and report any issues to teaching staff or senior management.
    • Assist with the supervision of students during break and lunchtimes, contributing to the general supervision and order of the school.
    • Support teachers with administrative tasks, such as preparing resources or marking work, when not covering lessons.

Essential Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people in a school, youth work, or community setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Confidence in managing student behaviour and promoting a positive learning environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to step into a variety of roles within the school.
  • A passion for helping young people overcome challenges and achieve their potential.

Desirable:

  • Experience working as a Cover Supervisor or in a classroom support role.
  • Experience working with students with additional needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • A relevant qualification in youth work, education, or social work.

  • Must have UK experience of working with young people
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • Expereince of working in the UK with young people
