About the role

Youth workers in schools play a pivotal role in providing guidance, support, and mentorship to students, typically adolescents, navigating the complexities of their formative years. Their job involves addressing various issues students may face, including academic challenges, mental health concerns, social pressures, and family issues. Through one-on-one counselling, group sessions, and workshops, youth workers empower students to develop essential life skills, resilience, and self-confidence, ultimately contributing to their holistic growth and well-being within the school community.

About the school

You will be working in a PRU in Birmingham offering specialized support and education to students facing challenges such as behavioural issues or social-emotional difficulties. The setting provides tailored programs and interventions to help students thrive academically and personally. With a focus on holistic development, the setting aims to empower students for success in mainstream education or alternative pathways.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Youth Worker Birmingham you will:
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a care, residential or educational setting is required.
  • A passion for supporting and caring for Children and Adults with behavioural or Special Educational Needs.
  • A strong understanding and awareness of safeguarding is essential.
  • A background in therapeutic care or therapeutic practice would be desirable.
  • An Ability to work individually and take a proactive approach to student care and learning.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • Minimum of 1-year experience in a care, residential or educational setting is required.
