The school provides tailored support to students of all ages with Severe and Profound Learning Disabilities (SPLD). Each student has an Education, Health, and Care Plan and Individual Support Plan, ensuring their unique needs are met. This role focuses on supporting teaching staff and students to promote learning, development, and well-being.

About the role

  • Assist with individual and group activities, supporting students with sensory, physical, and learning challenges, as well as emotional and social development needs.
  • Work with teachers to plan, deliver, and evaluate learning activities tailored to student needs.
  • Create effective learning environments, manage behaviour, and provide literacy, numeracy, and administrative support.
  • Ensure pupil safety, support marking and record-keeping, and contribute to the school’s ethos and vision.
  • Safeguard the welfare of children and uphold Health and Safety protocols.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Lesson Support Assistant you will:
  • Experience working with students with special needs, including sensory or physical impairments, learning difficulties, or behavioural challenges.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with teachers and contribute to student progress.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, professional development, and maintaining the school’s vision and ethos.
  • Familiarity with creating structured, engaging, and supportive learning environments.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
  • Experience working with students with special needs, including sensory or physical impairments, learning difficulties, or behavioural challenges.
