About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dynamic team. You will work closely with teaching staff to enhance the learning experience of our students, particularly those for whom English is an additional language. Your role will involve providing classroom support, delivering small group interventions, and helping to differentiate lesson content to meet the needs of individual learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of high-quality lessons by working closely with class teachers.
- Assist in the planning, preparation, and assessment of lessons, ensuring that all students are engaged and able to access the curriculum.
- Deliver targeted interventions to small groups of students, particularly focusing on those with English as a Second Language (ESL) needs.
- Assist in creating resources and materials to support students with their English language development.
- Provide pastoral support and foster a positive learning environment for all students.
- Work with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff members to monitor and support students with additional needs.
- Promote positive behaviour and a strong work ethic among students.
- Assist with the supervision of students during non-teaching times, such as lunch and break times.
Essential Requirements:
- HLTA qualification or equivalent.
- Proven experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar role within a secondary school setting.
- A strong understanding of the UK curriculum and strategies for supporting students with ESL needs.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Experience working with students with English as a Second Language (ESL).
- Knowledge of strategies and techniques for supporting language development in young learners.
- Previous experience working in an inclusive or diverse educational setting.
