About the role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans in the absence of teaching staff.
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe, productive learning environment.
- Support students in their educational journey, maintaining high standards of engagement and discipline.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider school team.
This is a flexible role, with both full-time and part-time opportunities available, allowing you to fit work around your commitments.
We welcome applications from candidates with:
- Experience working with young people in any capacity (e.g., teaching assistant, coaching, youth work).
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- A positive attitude and ability to adapt to varying classroom dynamics.
- A commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
No formal teaching qualifications are required; however, prior experience in education or a related field is an advantage.

Requirements
- Have previous experience working in a secondary school setting, ideally as a cover supervisor, teaching assistant, or similar role.
- Be confident managing classrooms and engaging with students aged 11–16.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be flexible, reliable, and adaptable to different school environments.
- Ability to obtain suitable references, a valid DBS Check and hold the Right to Work in the UK (ABC Teachers do not offer sponsorship)
- Have previous experience working in a secondary school setting, ideally as a cover supervisor, teaching assistant, or similar role.
